VinFast LLC (VinFast) is a Vietnamese multinational automotive company that manufactures electric vehicles (EVs).
Founded in 2017, the EV maker is owned by Vingroup Joint Stock Company (Vingroup), which is one of the largest conglomerates in Vietnam.
In a news release on Jan. 25, 2023, VinFast announced that it’s merging its Canadian and U.S. strategic business and management operations into a single unit, which will be called “VinFast North America.”
Currently headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia, VinFast Canada has stores in several major Canadian cities, including Toronto, Oakville, Guelph, Surrey, and West Vancouver.
According to LinkedIn, the company employs more than 200 people in Canada and the U.S.
In Canada, employees at VinFast can get up to 24 months of severance pay when they are fired or laid off from their job. This includes individuals working full-time, part-time, and hourly in Ontario or B.C.
