In August 2026, the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), the Ghana Education Service, the New Patriotic Party(NPP), the Intercity STC Coaches Limited, and the Ghana Police Service had the course to debunk false information targeted at them by social media users across platforms.
This narrative report, similar to GhanaFact’s publication in August 2025, highlights how some of these fake posts found their way to social media and how the institutions reacted.
On August 3, 2026, GoldBod debunked claims circulating on social media that it had lost GH200 million to Dominic Bonsu, who was described as a former security guard of the GoldBod CEO, Sammy Gyamfi.
A flyer on Facebook about the alleged losses garnered some significant reactions including 230 comments, 666 likes, 160 shares while a similar claim on X , had 3 reposts, 4 likes.
GoldBod responded with a statement on its official website and X account, clarifying that the claims were false.
