VNL Whistleblower: Construction owner speaks out after piles of garbage left on farm land in Horace - KVLY

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A construction owner is speaking out after piles of garbage were left on farm land in Horace.

The dump is located on 51st Street Southeast.

Bob Schmidt, President of Schmidt & Sons Construction, couldn’t believe what he saw after getting the news from another individual.

“One gentleman from Moore Engineering notified us that there was a pile of garbage that had appeared on the farmer’s field,” said Schmidt.

Personal items like photos, books, and even shell casings were located in the field. Schmidt describes the pile in one word: disrespectful.

“Whoever is doing this to just show some respect!” said Schmidt.

He also mentioned thousands of dollars worth of copper that’s been missing.

“There’s been copper that’s disappeared. We’ve had a couple farm sites that’s just to the east of here where batteries have disappeared.” said Schmidt.

For Bob, he simply can’t comprehend how one couldn’t use resources to simply throw away responsibly.

“It just doesn’t make any sense why you wouldn’t just take it to the landfill,” said Schmidt.

Schmidt says that he believes the Cass County Sheriff’s Office is still doing an open investigation on this.

He also wants to thank Deputy Bryce Noonan for working with him and farmers in the area to address the issue.

Valley News Live has reached out to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office but has not heard back.
