Tucson will become the second Arizona city to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour—and risk backlash from state lawmakers—after voters approved a ballot measure Tuesday, according to unofficial election results.
The citizen initiative known as Proposition 206 passed by roughly a 2-to-1 ratio, the AP reported.
The measure proposed raising wages in phases to reach $15 by 2025, starting with $13 in April 2022. The proposal also outlined creation of a new city office to investigate complaints, among other labor provisions.
