By Kanu Sarda: The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Dr Anand Rai, the whistleblower in the Vyapam scam. He was arrested in a case over alleged violence during a protest. Rai
was arrested in a case under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act over an alleged defamatory post on Facebook against the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister’s Deputy Secretary Laxman Singh Markam.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud granted bail to Rai and directed the trial court to impose necessary conditions for Anand Rai's release.

During the brief hearing, the CJI questioned the state of the MP, "This man is an ophthalmologist. He says he is also the whistleblower in the Vyapam scam. The allegation is that he was part of a mob which attacked the collector. How long will you keep him inside?"
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta responded, "Just to inform your lordship there are 4-5 FIRs against him prior to this so-called whistle-blowing."
Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, who was appearing for Rai, along with Senior Advocate Vivek Tankha submitted that he was kept in solitary confinement during the period of custody. In his petition, Rai has alleged that he was sent to prisons as a result of 'conspiracies' against him and stated that his entire past has remained 'unblemished'...
