Wake Up Call: CFTC Hires Hedge Fund Counsel as Chief of Staff - Bloomberg Law

  • Leading off, Commodity Futures Trading Commission Commissioner Goldsmith Romero hired Joe Cisewski, the legal counsel of crypto-currency specialist hedge fund Pantera Capital, as chief of staff and senior counsel. Romero said Cisewski’s “fluency on digital-asset and other issues will be valuable as the agency’s Technology Advisory Committee embarks on its agenda later this year.” (CFTC.gov)
  • Freshfields, Bruckhaus Deringer’s global revenues rose 7% to 1.7 billion pounds ($2.05 billion) for its latest fiscal year, putting it behind Clifford Chance and Allen & Overy. However, Freshfields’ average profits per equity partner, which rose 8% to reach 2.07 million pounds, led both those Magic Circle rivals, a report said. (Law.com International) (The Lawyer)
