Warren was called to the Bar in South Africa in 2001, and took silk in 2021. Apart from sitting as a Deputy High Court Judge and a Labour Court Judge periodically since 2021, he is retained as an arbitrator in commercial and community scheme disputes.
Warren’s practice is largely in commercial and administrative law, with a portion being in employment law and restraint of trade law. He has appeared as sole counsel (as junior and as a silk) in all levels of courts in South Africa, including the Supreme Court of Appeal and the Constitutional Court.
His court work spans trial advocacy (trials and arbitrations) as well as submissions advocacy – including opposed motions, appeals and administrative law reviews. Warren has been involved in teaching and training since 2005 and has been an advocacy trainer since 2010. He has taught advocacy locally and internationally, and has a passion for upskilling and teaching the next generation of barristers.
