Washington Clarifies Guidance for Delayed Long-Term Care Tax - Bloomberg Tax

Washington employers must decide whether to collect long-term care contributions while the state considers adjustments to the program, Gov. Jay Inslee (D) said Dec. 22.

The long-term care law, also called the long-term services and supports law, requires employers to withhold a tax equal to 0.58% of each employee’s wages starting Jan. 1, 2022. The Employment Security Department was directed not to accept premiums before April 2022 in order to allow the legislature time to consider measures that would enhance the program and legally extend the date for employers to start collecting contributions.
