'We gotta find her a job': Ford says dog testing 'whistleblower' now out of work - TimminsToday.com

Ontario Premier Doug Ford said he was first tipped off to medical testing on dogs by a London, Ont., hospital through a "whistleblower" who has since lost her job.

The Investigative Journalism Bureau published a story on secret tests on dogs at London's St. Joseph’s Hospital on Aug. 7. On Aug. 12, the hospital announced that, following consultations with the province, it had decided to shut down the testing that was done through the Lawson Research Institute.

The premier was in London on Monday and offered more details to local reporters.

"I can't believe they got away with that this long, and I gotta thank the whistleblower that, you know, sent me pictures and texted me and everything else," he said. "That person's a champion. Unfortunately, she's lost her job, and not because they know who it is. I don't know. It's frustrating. Anyways, we gotta find her a job."

It's unclear to whom he's referring, and the premier's office didn't respond to a request for clarification Monday.

The hospital issued a brief statement indicating that it hadn't investigated the source of the complaints about the program, but some people involved have lost their jobs.
