Sam Altman has long been a part of the Silicon Valley landscape. From 2015 through 2023, Altman served as the CEO of Open AI, the company behind Chat GPT. Often touted as one of the most moral and ethical people in the tech space, Altman was removed from his leadership role at Open AI on 17 November. The board released a statement that they reviewed Altman’s performance and “concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities.”
The board has announced that Mira Murati, the company’s chief technology officer, will serve as the interim CEO after losing confidence in Altman’s leadership skills. Upon hearing the news, Altman expressed his shock on X (formerly known as Twitter) and described the experience as “reading your own eulogy while you’re still alive.”
