The U.S. outlet PJ Media has published new allegations against California Senator Adam Schiff related to the so-called “Russiagate” affair.
According to documents provided to Congress by former Director of National Intelligence Kash Patel, a veteran intelligence officer who worked for more than a decade with Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee claimed that in 2017, Schiff—then a member of the House—personally approved leaking classified information in order to discredit then-President Donald Trump.
FBI 302 interview reports obtained by Just the News describe the whistleblower, a Democrat and acquaintance of both Schiff and former Republican Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, as considering the leaks “unethical,” “illegal,” and “treasonous.” He said he was told not to worry because Schiff believed he was protected under the U.S. Constitution’s Speech and Debate Clause.
In a pivotal 2023 interview, the whistleblower alleged that he attended a staff meeting in which Schiff announced plans to leak classified material derogatory to Trump with the aim of securing an indictment. Efforts to raise the matter with the Department of Justice were unsuccessful. The statute of limitations has now expired, precluding prosecution.
Schiff has also recently been referred to the Justice Department in connection with a separate investigation into alleged mortgage fraud.
