PORTLAND, Maine – As Maine Democrats prepare to welcome Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as the keynote speaker at this weekend’s Democratic convention in Portland, explosive new allegations from a Minnesota whistleblower, coupled with sweeping federal raids, are intensifying scrutiny of fraud scandals that have rocked Walz’s home state.
According to reporting by the New York Post, a former Minnesota state trooper turned fraud investigator testified that state officials attempted to suppress findings related to widespread childcare assistance fraud, and that the investigative unit he worked in was ultimately shut down after Walz took office in 2019.
The whistleblower, identified as Jay Swanson, alleged that his superiors ordered him to delete investigative findings and bypass proper procedures actions he believed to be illegal. His testimony comes as federal investigators ramp up enforcement actions across Minnesota targeting suspected large-scale fraud networks.
