A whistleblower claim against Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is so classified that it is said to be locked in a safe, according to a new report.
The Wall Street Journal detailed that the allegations have also sparked months of debate about how to share them with Congress. They also implicate another federal agency and raises potential claims of executive privilege that could involve the White House, officials interviewed by the outlet added.
The complaint was filed in May with the intelligence community's inspector general, with the whistleblower filing theirs in November.
DNI spokeswoman Olivia Coleman rejected the report, calling it "one of the most disgusting cases of clickbait I have ever seen."
"There was absolutely NO wrongdoing by DNI Gabbard, a fact that the Wall Street Journal conveniently buried 13 paragraphs down. Even the Biden-era Intelligence Community Inspector General came to this conclusion, determining that the Whistleblower's allegations against DNI Gabbard 'did not appear credible,'" she added.
Coleman went on to call the report a "classic case of a politically motivated individual weaponizing their position in the Intelligence Community, submitting a baseless complaint and then burying it in highly classified information to create 1) false intrigue, 2) a manufactured narrative, and 3) conditions which make it substantially more difficult to produce "security guidance" for transmittal to Congress."
