WASHINGTON (TNND) — FBI Director Kash Patel sent Congress declassified whistleblower memos containing allegations against Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif. The memos, from a longtime Democratic staffer, claim that Schiff instructed his staff to leak classified information related to Russia and President Donald Trump to damage the president's reputation.
The whistleblower reportedly spoke to the FBI in 2017 and again in 2023, expressing concerns that leaking such information would be "illegal, unethical, and treasonous."
"The President has already said he wants to see Adam Schiff held accountable for the countless lies he told the American people about the Russiagate scandal," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Tuesday.
House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, expressed interest in having the whistleblower testify before his committee.
"The main reason I believe he’s probably credible is because this is their pattern, they did it all along, they were leaking information to friendly news outlets to further this false narrative that somehow President Trump was working with the Russians," said Jordan.
Schiff has dismissed the allegations.
