SHAWNEE, Okla. —
The city of Shawnee announced Thursday that a whistleblower complaint filed in October 2025 alleged "historical financial misconduct relating to the Shawnee Hospital Authority."

The Shawnee Hospital Authority is a public trust connected to the local hospital system in Shawnee.
The city said it immediately submitted the complaint to the Pottawatomie County District Attorney’s Office, which opened an investigation in October 2025.
Officials from the Pottawatomie County District Attorney’s Office said they could not comment on the matter because it is an active and pending investigation.
The city of Shawnee stated that it has not been accused of wrongdoing and is cooperating with investigators. No details have been released about the alleged misconduct, including who may be involved or the time period under examination.
SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, which operates the local hospital, provided a statement saying, "SSM Health has not received a formal notice or inquiry about a whistleblower complaint. If that changes, we would cooperate with any investigation.
