Whistleblower Reporting Fraud To Ministry Claims His Email & Identity Were Exposed - SAYS

A community activist from Bukit Pelanduk, Port Dickson, was upset to discover that his identity as an informant in the misappropriation of subsidised diesel in the area was leaked

According to Sinar Harian, Anbin Bala, as he is known in the community, said he sent an email to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) on 1 July to inform them about the illegal storage of controlled goods in his area.

However, the 44-year-old said a few weeks later, some friends came to ask him about his complaint.

"On 1 July, I sent an email to the KPDNHEP minister regarding the issue that was occurring in the Bukit Pelanduk area here," he told the Malay daily when met last Wednesday, 13 July.

"Unfortunately, the information in my email was leaked, causing me to worry about my personal and family's safety for making the report," he said.

The man claimed that there were at least 20 to 25 illegal storages of subsidised diesel around Port Dickson

He explained that the information was obtained based on observations and complaints he received from concerned locals.

Even the petrol station employees in the area, he said, have seen suspicious tanker lorries with no logos pumping and taking away large volumes of diesel.

"Many know me as a community activist, and that is why they report to me about the swindling that was happening," Bala said.

"They want to make complaints, but they're scared."
