Ghislaine Maxwell received preferential treatment at a federal prison in Texas, a former nurse at the facility claims.
Noella Turnage, who had been employed by the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) since 2019, identified herself Monday as the whistleblower who previously shared some of Maxwell’s correspondence with members of the House Judiciary Committee.
“I actually emailed them from work, from my Bureau of Prisons email address, and said, ‘Hey, this is who I am, this is where I work, and I have some things I think you might be interested in, and documents you may be interested in,’” Turnage told KBTX. “I didn’t even specify what it was.”
A staffer for Democratic U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin, ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, responded to Turnage within 30 minutes. The 46-year-old has since fielded multiple calls with follow-up inquiries, she said.
“I have not shared them with anyone other than the committee,” Turnage said of Maxwell’s emails, some of which she allowed a reporter to view Monday, KBTX reported.
Turnage said she shared Maxwell’s correspondence following retaliation by Bureau of Prisons officials for reporting poor working conditions and alleged mistreatment of inmates at Federal Prison Camp Bryan.
Turnage’s complaints led to her being reassigned to the facility’s so-called “phone room,” where her duties included monitoring inmate calls and emails, she said.
