Whistleblower testifies against Vyapam scam accused - Times of India

Bhopal: Whistleblower Ashish Chaturvedi, who exposed the Vyapam scam, presented his testimony before a CBI special court in Gwalior on Saturday. Chaturvedi was called as a witness to testify against Dr Deepak Yadav regarding his alleged involvement in the pre-PG entrance exams held in 2006. The CBI had filed an FIR against Dr Yadav based on Chaturvedi's complaint.
Chaturvedi said that there have been attempts to hinder his appearance and prevent him from giving his statement against Dr Yadav. “However, I overcame all odds and appeared before the court at 10 am. I have submitted a written complaint to the court detailing the obstacles I faced before my appearance," he said. In 2014, a special investigation team (SIT) set up by the Gwalior district police apprehended Dr Deepak Yadav for his alleged involvement in manipulating examinations during the Vyapam scam investigation.The SIT had also announced a cash reward of Rs 15,000 for information leading to his arrest in the scam, often compared to the Bihar fodder scam in terms of its magnitude and operation.
Yadav, a resident of Gwalior, has been accused of employing unfair means to help numerous candidates pass the postgraduate medical entrance exams. His name emerged during the interrogation of several candidates who admitted to paying bribes for admission.
He faced questioning for his alleged role in the Pre-Medical Test (PMT) and Pre-PG entrance exams conducted since 2006, with Yadav being implicated in fraudulent...
