The whistleblower who brought to light Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’sties to Jeffrey Epstein reportedly died by suicide in late September.
On Friday, Transparency Task Force founder Andy Agathangelou announced that Simon Andriesz had passed away the previous week. Andriesz, a British banker, notably worked under Lutnick prior to Lutnick’s time as a member of President Donald Trump’s cabinet.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Simon Andriesz, a valued member of our community, passed away last week,” Agathangelou said in a statement obtained by The Telegraph.
When millions of additional Epstein files were released earlier this year, Andriesz combed through them and discovered email exchanges between Lutnick and the deceased sex trafficker. In a July report from BBC, Andriesz shared his experience unconvering his former employer’s links to Epstein:
The Epstein files show Andriesz alleged that Lutnick had had undeclared business ties with Epstein. The FBI did not investigate these accusations.
Andriesz tells the BBC he was disappointed that few had seemed interested in what he had discovered: “I’m exposing Howard Lutnick’s relationship, financial links, with Jeffrey Epstein, and there’s no interest.”
