Donald Trump has peddled fakeness so much that it is turning into his brand. There is so much that is fake in his jeremiads against vaccines that it is difficult to point out just one bizarre claim among many, including the fake claim that there is harm in inoculating children with multiple vaccines at the same time. Apparently, Trump has concluded that too many children survive until adulthood.
Or how about his desire to fight inflation by having the Federal Reserve reduce its interest rate to 1%. The only possible explanation is that Trump is still fantasizing that he is trying to save from bankruptcy a real estate empire by being shoveled cheap money. Time for Trump to wake up and smell the increasingly expensive roses.
Or his claim in the last few days that his tariffs have dramatically cut the deficit. Can Trump count? Can Trump read?
What his tariffs have done is to place a tax burden directly on consumers, for the non-fake old news is that tariffs result in a dollar-for-dollar increase in prices paid by the public. Although we have not run a Monte Carlo simulation, we consider it a high probability that Trump was either asleep in class or AWOL at The Wharton School when they taught the old real news about comparative advantage. No wonder Trump has not released his Wharton grades.
