Federal authorities accused Patel and his medical practice of carrying out medically unnecessary procedures and billing government healthcare programs for services that were not required.
The settlement, announced by the United States Department of Justice, resolves claims made under the False Claims Act and the Georgia False Medicaid Claims Act. Officials stated that the agreement settles allegations only and does not confirm legal liability.
