Wilmington attorneys take lead on Trump co. whistleblower case - Greater Wilmington Business Journal

Two Wilmington-based lawyers are representing a whistleblower client alleging securities violations that are being investigated as crimes tied to former President Donald J. Trump’s company.

Cranfill Sumner LLP lawyers Patrick Mincey and Stephen Bell are lead attorneys in a U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission complaint filed by William Wilkerson, who co-founded the company that launched Truth Social alongside the former president; Phil Brewster of Brewster Law Firm LLC is also heading up the case.

Truth Social is a social media platform launched last year following the former president’s suspensions and complaints of censorship on Twitter and Facebook.

In August, Wilkerson filed a whistleblower complaint with the SEC against Truth Social’s parent company, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMG). The complaint chiefly focuses on alleged fraudulent misrepresentations regarding funding mechanisms company officials sought through special purpose acquisition companies, Digital World Acquisition Corporation and Benessere Capital Acquisition Corporation.

After Wilkerson spoke to The Washington Post, which published a detailed article on his allegations last month, he was fired from TMG. Trump owns 90% of TMG, according to the SEC complaint. TMG did not respond to a request to comment but described an inquiry spelling out Wilkerson’s claims as “concocted psychodramas” in a statement to The Post.
