Woman accused of false rape claims due to apply for bail - NW Evening Mail

A WOMAN facing eight charges of perverting the course of justice is due to apply for bail.

Eleanor Williams is alleged to have made a series of false claims to police over rape and sexual assault.

Preston Crown Court is due to consider an application on behalf of the defendant, who is currently on remand, to be bailed.

The 21-year-old was due to stand trial earlier this month but proceedings were adjourned.

The trial is now due to take place in October and is expected to last around 10 weeks.

The defendant, of Teasdale Road on Walney, is said to have carried out the offences between 2017 and 2020.

The claims of rape, sexual assault and trafficking concern five men.

Ms Williams has had to wait more than 18 months since she was first charged to face trial.

Judge Mr Justice Goose is due to consider the application on Monday.
