Woman accused of pretending to be Boston high school student indicted on 9 charges, report says - KEYE TV CBS Austin

BOSTON (TND) — A 32-year-old woman who allegedly pretended to be a student at three Boston high schools was indicted on nine charges, according to a report.

The Boston Globe on Wednesday noted Shelby Hewitt was indicted on the following charges:

  • Three counts of forgery
  • Two counts of common law forgery
  • Uttering
  • Larceny over $1,200
  • Making false claims to an employer
  • Identity theft

The media outlet reported that Hewitt used fake names at three schools, including Jeremiah E. Burke High School, Brighton High School, and The English High School. She reportedly joined the girl's basketball team at one of the schools.

The Boston Globe also noted that Hewitt's attorney "entered a plea of not guilty on her behalf and said Hewitt has had a 'lifelong, well-documented history' of mental health struggles."

Hewitt, who was previously a social worker for Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, also allegedly stole $1,200 in salary during her employment with the agency, according to the report.
