One victim said her family has been through 'absolute hell' because of Charlotte Griffiths' lies
A woman made false allegations that she'd been attacked and that two people were planning to abuse children. Charlotte Griffiths, 33, falsely claimed to police that a father and grandmother were making threats to drug children and take them away from their mother.
She also lied about being assaulted and showed police images of an injured woman who was clearly a different person.
One of the victim's said her family has lived through "absolute hell" because of Griffiths' lies and another said the emotional toll was "entirely overwhelming".
Griffiths posed as a neighbour of her victims when she contacted social services on October 7, 2024, claiming she had overheard a grandmother saying she was going to drug her grandchildren and take them away from their mother. She also claimed the children's father was mentally unwell and had been arrested.
A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday heard the defendant asked to use a friend's phone, and used it to call 101 to make the same allegations to the police. Don’t miss a court report by signing up to our crime newsletter here.
On October 13, 2024, Griffiths contacted a friend and claimed she'd received a blow to the head. The friend visited the defendant at her home to check on her and again she told him she had been assaulted.
