The employers of two workers who died in an explosion while cleaning railcars in 2015 have been sentenced to up to 30 months in prison.
Steven Braithwaite, president and majority owner of Nebraska Railcar Cleaning Services L.L.C., and the company’s vice president and minority owner, Adam Braithwaite, were sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska in Omaha. The men were sentenced for allowing willful violations of OSHA standards that resulted in deaths, submission of false documents to the agency, perjury, and violations of the EPA’s Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
