‘World's most pathetic liar...’ Iranian newspapers slam Trump, publish satirical cartoons - Mathrubhumi English

Iranian media ridicule Trump’s claims of war talks, publish cartoons and accuse him of lying as tensions rise and oil prices fluctuate

Tehran: Iranian newspapers on Wednesday sharply criticised what they described as false claims by Donald Trump regarding ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the war. Several publications carried satirical cartoons portraying the US leader as Pinocchio, accusing him of dishonesty.

One of the most striking depictions appeared on the front page of the conservative daily Javan. The illustration showed Trump with a long nose standing over a map of the Strait of Hormuz, accompanied by a headline labelling him as “the world’s most pathetic and dishonourable liar”.

Dispute over claims of negotiations

The criticism followed Trump’s announcement on Monday about potential talks with Tehran, made just hours before the deadline of an ultimatum he had issued. He had warned of possible strikes on power plants if Iran did not reopen the strategically important strait.

However, Iranian officials have firmly rejected these claims, stating that no negotiations, whether direct or indirect, are currently taking place.

Accusations of market manipulation

Javan alleged that Trump’s remarks were intended to stabilise financial markets and reduce oil prices, which have risen since hostilities involving Israel and the United States began on February 28.
