York Haven man allegedly filed false insurance claims on junk cars: AG - York Daily Record

A York County man faces numerous felony charges including insurance fraud stemming from accusations he bought scrapped vehicles, insured them, and collected insurance payouts after reporting accidents that never happened.

According to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, Taofiq Salami, 30, of York Haven was arrested Thursday, March 26, and has been charged with numerous felonies after collecting more than $180,000 after he allegedly reported accidents that never occurred.

Attorney General Dave Sunday said in a statement an investigation by his office found Salami used false and stolen identities and co-conspirators to purchase and insure the scrapped vehicles before filing insurance claims on fictitious accidents.

Sunday said Salami attempted to employ the scheme on numerous other occasions but did not receive those payouts.
