Your dreams can impact how you act at work - study - The Jerusalem Post

New research from the US shows that when dreams are first recalled, people often draw connections between their dreams and waking lives, and that changes how they think, feel, and act at work.

Recalling dreams that are interpreted has affected work and choices of actions going back to the biblical pharoah and Joseph. They persuaded the ancient Egyptian monarch to put Joseph in charge of saving his people during seven years of famine, restored to his job the wine server and sent to his death the chief baker.

Sleep and employee behavior are linked. Before heading to work each day, most people have spent the night dreaming. Studies show that on any given morning, about 40% of the working population recall their dreams.

New research from Indiana and North Carolina shows that when dreams are first recalled, people often draw connections between their dreams and waking lives, and the connections change how they think, feel, and act at work.

The study will soon be published in the Academy of Management Journal under the title “A Spillover Model of Dreams and Work Behavior: How Dream Meaning Ascription Promotes Awe and Employee Resilience.” The lead authors were management Prof. Casher Belinda of Indiana’s Notre Dame University and Dr. Michael Christian from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
