Aedla Sudhakar Reddy Criticises HYDRAA for False Statements - Deccan Chronicle

Hyderabad: BRS leader Aedla Sudhakar Reddy strongly criticised the statements of HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath regarding the status of Bathukammakunta. The official had claimed that the place was shown as a water body in old documents.

Sudhakar Reddy denied the allegations, calling them false and defamatory. “I strongly condemn his statements. Being a civil servant with the All India Services, he is not supposed to disclose evidence to the press, but he did.”

According to the BRS leader, Rule 8 (4) of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules of 1968 prohibited members of the service from giving publicity to evidence which was part of a judicial enquiry. He said that Rule 17 stipulated that no member of the service shall take recourse to any court or to the press for the vindication of an official act which has been the subject matter of adverse criticism or attack of a defamatory character.

“How can he bring a sub-judice matter to the press? Ranganath should answer why he is dishonouring the rules set by All India Services, knowing very well that this misconduct will result in heavy penalisation to his career and trying to defame me in public”, Sudhakar Reddy said, and added that the commissioner is trying to “trial through media” and influence the judiciary.
