Algerian boxer and Paris 2024 gold medallist Imane Khelif has broken her silence to condemn the International Boxing Association (IBA) for making what she describes as "baseless and offensive" accusations regarding her gender. In a strongly worded statement, Khelif addressed the ongoing controversy, which has escalated following the IBA's announcement of legal action against the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The IBA claims its legal action stems from the inclusion of Khelif and Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting in the Olympic Games, despite their exclusion from the 2023 IBA World Championships on the grounds of alleged gender eligibility violations. Both women were cleared by the IOC to compete in Paris, where they went on to win gold medals, cementing their places as champions in women’s boxing. Notably, both were born and raised as women, as recorded in their official documentation.
In her statement, Khelif recounted the sacrifices she has made in her career, declaring her commitment to fighting for fairness in sport. "For eight years, I have fought for my dream – eight years of sacrifice, discipline, and perseverance to stand on the Olympic stage and represent my country with pride," she wrote.
