Allentown police officer behind whistleblower lawsuit now on administrative leave - 69News WFMZ-TV

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Sources close to two veteran Allentown police officers who filed a whistleblower complaint say one of those officers is now on administrative leave.

The reason behind that leave is unknown at this time.

Allentown city officials say they don't comment on personal matters.

The whistleblower lawsuit was filed in July and claims the two officers repeatedly told APD supervisors and management that several members of the Vice and Intelligence Unit were allegedly committing criminal acts while on duty.

Acts like sex with prostitutes, stealing drug money and property from suspects.

The whistleblowers claim because of their efforts to bring attention to the alleged acts, hey experienced retaliation and were moved from vice to patrol.

The lawsuit came around the time when city council had just hired former FBI Agent Scott Curtis, whose investigation brought down Mayor Ed Pawlowski, to investigate separate allegations of racism and discrimination following a letter from members of the Allentown NAACP.

Curtis says now, he's also looking into some of the whistleblower allegations.

"Obviously retaliation could be connected and linked to misconduct, and that could also create a hostile work environment, so things could be interrelated and connected there. And that's one of the things that we're going to look to explore there in the full scope of all these allegations there is to see what are the root causes, right, of some of these claims that are being made," said...
