Anambra Whistleblower Nnamdi Emeh's Case Resumes Tuesday Amid Three-Year Illegal Detention By Nigerian Police - Sahara Reporters

The case involving detained Nigerian whistleblower and Information Technology (IT) expert, Nnamdi Daniel Emeh, is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, July 14, at the Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State.

Meanwhile, his family has continued to push for justice more than three years after his controversial arrest and return to Nigeria from the Republic of Benin.

The development was disclosed by Emeh's father, Prof. John Kanu Emeh, in a message made available to SaharaReporters on Monday.

The court sitting comes months after a major development in the case, when the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) distanced itself from Emeh's arrest and controversial cross-border repatriation, contradicting claims previously paraded by the Nigeria Police Force.

In a April 9, SaharaReporters reported that, INTERPOL, in a formal response to an inquiry by the Nigeria Observatory for Human Rights (NOHR), categorically denied issuing any Red Notice or international wanted alert against Emeh.

"Mr. Nnamdi is not known in INTERPOL's databases and no Red Notice or wanted persons diffusion has been issued for him," the international policing organisation stated.

INTERPOL also clarified that it has no authority to arrest, extradite or direct the deportation of individuals between member countries.
