Animal Resources whistleblower investigation extended to early July - Alachua Chronicle
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Alachua County Attorney Sylvia Torres has notified County Commissioners that a whistleblower investigation into the County’s animal shelter has been extended by 30 days to early July.
Torres said the investigator is requesting an additional 30 days to complete the investigation “due to the nature of the allegations and other extenuating circumstances,” so in accordance with the County’s Whistleblower Ordinance, she consulted with Commission Chair Ken Cornell, who approved an additional 30 days.
The investigation was initiated in early March, after County Commissioners received a lengthy email from a former Shelter Outreach Coordinator; the allegations can be read here.
