The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has dismissed allegations linking its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, AMBO, with hoodlums, describing the claims as false, unfounded and politically motivated.
In a statement by the Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the party accused what it described as a “faceless” campaign group, allegedly aligned with Governor Ademola Adeleke of fabricating the claims to discredit its candidate ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The APC insisted that Oyebamiji remains a “peaceful and focused” candidate, adding that there is no basis for the allegations of links to criminal elements.
The party also took a swipe at Accord, accusing it of amplifying what it called “baseless propaganda,” while claiming that growing support and defections to the APC were causing anxiety among opposition groups.
The statement said that “no amount of misinformation” would stop the APC from winning the forthcoming election, expressing confidence that its candidate would emerge victorious.
In a counter-allegation, the APC accused the Adeleke-led administration of harbouring criminal elements within government circles, a claim it did not substantiate with verifiable evidence.
The party further referenced past incidents of political violence in the state, alleging that members and supporters of the APC were victims during previous election cycles.
