Arizona Cardinals call accusations of cheating, bullying ‘wildly false, reckless, and an opportunistic ploy fo - The Business Journals

The Arizona Cardinals have fervently denied accusations of cheating, harassment and “gross misconduct” made against the team’s owner Michael Bidwill by a former Cardinals executive.

Terry McDonough, the former Cardinals vice president of player personnel, filed an arbitration claim with the commissioner of the National Football League on Tuesday, according to a report from ESPN. In his complaint, McDonough reportedly alleged that under the direction of Bidwill, multiple Cardinals employees stayed in contact with the team’s former general manager Steve Keim when he was suspended by the NFL after pleading guilty to driving under the influence in Chandler in 2018.

McDonough alleged that he initially refused to use a burner phone to communicate with Keim, according to the report, which led to Bidwill cursing at, berating, and formally reprimanding McDonough, and ultimately demoting him. McDonough alleged in his claim that Bidwill’s actions resulted in “irrevocably damaging the trajectory of McDonough's 34-year career in the National Football League. Bidwill also subjected McDonough to bullying, mocking, harassing and abusive behavior.”

The Cardinals issued a nearly 1,500-word response to the arbitration claim and the reporting around it.
