As the federal government turns its back on workers, Governor Newsom signs landmark bill expanding workers’ rights - California State Portal (.gov)

What you need to know: Governor Newsom today signed into law landmark legislation that strengthens labor protections for California’s private sector workers.

Sacramento, California – As part of the state’s continued efforts to support a strong workforce, Governor Gavin Newsom today signed Assembly Bill 288 authored by Assemblymember Tina McKinnor (D-Inglewood), which defends California workers’ rights, including their right to organize — allowing them to petition the Public Employee Relations Board when the federal National Labor Relations Board does not fulfill its duties.

With the federal government not only asleep at the wheel, but driving into incoming traffic, it is more important than ever that states stand up to protect workers and ensure they have a path to defend their right to organize and collectively bargain. California is a proud labor state — and we will continue standing up for the workers that keep our state running and our economy booming.
