BBC under fire for editing Donald Trump speech to mislead viewers - The Jerusalem Post

The BBC has been accused of misrepresenting a speech made by US President Donald Trump The Telegraph reported on Monday.

An internal whistleblower revealed that Trump's words were edited to suggest he encouraged the Capitol Hill riot. In reality, his original statement emphasized the need for peaceful protest, but the edited version gave the impression that he was inciting violence.

The broadcast, which aired a week before the 2024 US presidential election, allegedly misled viewers by showing Trump telling supporters that he would walk to the Capitol with them to "fight like hell." In the uncut version, he stated that he would walk with them "to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard," the Telegraph noted.

The whistleblower reportedly sent a copy of the 19-page letter to every member of the BBC Board last month. The document raises significant concerns about the BBC’s culture and its implications for impartiality, suggesting that BBC leaders, including Director-General Tim Davie, may have ignored evidence of bias.

The dossier claimed that the program made the US president “say” things he never actually said by cutting together footage from the beginning of his speech with later comments he made.
