Bergen veterans home whistleblower alleges retaliation in lawsuit - Bergen Record

An assistant business manager at the veterans home in Paramus is alleging in a lawsuit that she faced retaliation when she reported deficient staffing to a federal monitor.

Biko Hannibal filed a lawsuit against the state and the Department of Veterans Affairs, saying she was punished for pointing out that several positions in the business office at the Paramus Veterans Memorial Home were empty, filled with unqualified employees or filled by per diem workers from a temp agency. Also named in the suit are Vincent Solemano, who was the acting administrator of veterans affairs; Timothy Doyle, the CEO of the Paramus home; Mark Preston, the CFO of the home; and Jason Bryant, the bureau chief of budgeting at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
