Boeing worker sues over unpaid work tied to putting on safety gear, overtime - KING5.com

A proposed class action says Boeing workers in Washington lost pay before shifts while getting gear and walking to work areas.

EVERETT, Wash. — A former Boeing worker has filed a proposed class action in federal court, alleging the company failed to pay hourly employees for all time worked and did not provide proper meal and rest breaks, according to a court complaint.

The lawsuit was filed by a former Boeing employee, who said he worked as an in-tank mechanic for Boeing's Integral Fuel Cell Assembly in Everett from about July 2018 to April 2025.

The complaint says he is suing on behalf of himself and other current and former hourly or non-exempt Boeing workers in Washington.

According to the complaint, the proposed class could include about 5,000 mechanics, technicians and other similar workers in the state.

A statement from Boeing said, "We follow all local, state and federal employment laws."

The complaint says the former Boeing employee was paid about $39.20 an hour and usually worked five days a week.

It alleges Boeing required workers to spend unpaid time before clocking in finding parking, walking to the facility, going to the locker room, getting equipment and putting on safety gear. That process could take 10 to 20 minutes a day, the lawsuit says.

The suit also claims workers were sometimes expected to attend meetings and training during meal periods, causing breaks to be shortened, interrupted or delayed.
