Advising clients on changes to the state’s paid leave law is among issues keeping Emily Atmore busy at Stoel Rives‘ Minneapolis office.
Practicing employment law, though, is carrying on a family tradition. Atmore’s father practiced the same kind of law for most of his career.
With a mother who was a paralegal and dinner table conversations full of legal jargon, Atmore “had the law school itch from a young age.”
Interested in business, Atmore earned an undergraduate degree in accounting. She ultimately chose law school, preferring “solving people problems more than math problems.”
Working on internal efforts including the Stoel Women Attorneys Group board has enabled Atmore to identify programming needs, inform firm policy, direct the firm’s budget, support and mentor others, and “better understand the business of running a national law firm.”
Atmore also is active with the ACLU of Minnesota, Minnesota Women Lawyers and the Volunteer Lawyers Network.
