The minimum wages for nursing staff in Germany are now to be increased in several steps from September 1st. Depending on the qualification, this means 40 to 70 cents for the year 2022. Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) welcomed this decision.
Already in January 2020 announced that Editorial network Germany (RND) the targeted wage increase for assistants and trained nursing staff. “By April 1, 2022, the minimum wage for nursing assistants should be noticeable in four steps […] be raised, as the nursing commission of employers and employees decided on Tuesday in Berlin,” the article said. The plans for this have now been confirmed in a communication from the nursing commission currently 12 to 14.15 euros; for qualified assistants from 12.50 to 15.25 euros; and for nursing staff from 15 euros to then 18.25 euros.
The current members of the Nursing Commission are made up of the following five organizations:
- the labor law commission of the German Caritas Association (2 members)
- the Labor Law Commission of Diakonie Germany (2 members)
- of the Verdi trade union (2 members)
- the bpa employers’ association (federal association of private providers of social services)
- the Federal Tariff Association of the German Red Cross
