False Claims by Blacksburg Woman Amplified by Union County Newspaper as Retaliation Against Local Journalism

BLACKSBURG, S.C. — A Blacksburg woman, Casey Blakin Israel is drawing scrutiny after publishing a series of false, misleading, and fully fabricated accusations against South Carolina investigative journalist James Seidel, founder of Crime & Cask News Network. The post, authored by Casey Blankin Israel of Blacksburg, South Carolina circulated across Facebook Tuesday afternoon and contains numerous provably false statements presented as fact.
Israel’s post falsely claims Seidel did a multitude of misdeeds. These claims have no basis in any public record, and the businesses and transactions she describes no longer exist. Her statements are false, misleading, and intentionally crafted to deceive readers.
Israel also claimed Seidel’s reporting, photos, and published work are “AI-generated,” despite his long career as a journalist, publisher of the CC News Network, author of three books, radio host, podcaster, and investigator with a verified public presence across multiple major platforms.
The post even drifts into fabricated personal insinuations designed to foment outrage rather than convey truth — a hallmark of intentional online misinformation.
