Central team to check Covid-19 ex-gratia claims in 10 districts of Maharashtra - Times of India

PUNE: Ex-gratia claims from 10 districts in the state will be scrutinised by the central team as directed by the Supreme Court and teams have been dispatched to these districts.
The districts include Pune, Satara, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Amravati, Buldhana, Solapur, Ratnagiri, Nagpur and Wardha.
The three-member teams have been dispatched to Maharashtra, Kerala, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh for a random scrutiny of claims filed for ex gratia due to Covid-19 death.
NCDC director Dr Sujeet Singh in a letter issued on April 22 has issued the detailed programme regarding random scrutiny of 5 % claims filed for covid-19 ex-gratia compensation in accordance to the directives of the SC
For Gujarat, the districts that have been selected include Rajkot, Division 6 district, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Rajkot, Morbi, Kutch and Dwarka and for Andhra Pradesh the districts include Chittoor, YSR, Kadapa, Nellore, Prakasam, Krishna , East Godavari, West Godavari, Srikakulam and Vishakhapatnam while for Kerala Thiruvananthapuram has been chosen for the random checks
The three-member team to Maharashtra will be led by Dr Sunil Gupta, Principal Consultant, National Centre for Disease Control. Dr P Ravindran, advisor, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Calicut will lead the team to Kerala; while Dr S Venkatesh, Principal Advisor, NCDC is heading the Gujarat team. The three-member team to Andhra Pradesh will be headed by Dr S K Singh, Director, NCDC.
