A former union official for one of the country’s most “militant unions” has drawn attention to “missing millions” from a 2017 property sale – totalling some $38 million, according to Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“Former union official Andrew Quirk – who previously drew attention to alleged links between organised crime and the CFMEU’s NSW Branch – says the proceeds of the CFMEU’s sale of its Lidcombe headquarters in 2017 can’t be accounted for,” Ms Credlin said.
“According to Quirk, some $38 million from the sale doesn’t appear in the union’s federally registered accounts.
“As noted in a report by the Australian Financial Review, if the funds haven’t been registered, they are outside the scrutiny of the federal watchdog – the Registered Organisations Commission.
“If this is true, then there’s serious questions here as to if there’s dark money and why.
