CLARENDON HILLS, IL – A chiropractor made false claims about a particular procedure's ability to detect breast cancer, a state agency says.
The chiropractor, who is listed as being from Clarendon Hills and working in Lisle, is Dan Ourada, according to state records.
On his website, Ourada advertises what "thermography" can do.
However, the state Department of Financial and Professional Regulations alleged Ourada made false claims about thermography.
In February, Ourada and the agency signed a consent decree placing him on professional probation for a year. This, according to the agency, was for documentation issues and false claims about thermography.

As part of the agreement, Ourada was required to state on the thermography page that the FDA has found no valid data to support the use of the procedure for breast cancer screening.
He was also required to note that the American Cancer Society and the American College of Radiology do not recommend thermography for such screening.
Additionally, Ourada must state on the website: "Thermography is not as sensitive as mammography for detecting early breast cancer. Thermography is only an adjunctive imaging procedure, meaning it should not be used as a substitute for other imaging methods."
Ourada did not return an emailed message for comment from two weeks ago.
