JAMMU, November 16: Reacting sharply to the claim by JKPCC chief that Congress is committed to serve and empower people, Jammu and Kashmir BJP General Secretary and former MLC, Vibodh Gupta, termed it as a bundle of lies. He said that a glance at the past record of Congress in Jammu and Kashmir, will make it crystal clear that this party adopted different yardsticks for different regions and sections of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Vibodh Gupta said that remaining in the limelight can be a compulsion of Congress leaders but they should not make false and misleading claims. The Congress, whose leaders are today talking of serving and empowering the people, should first explain as to why they did not treat every region and section equal in its programmes and policies during the decades of their rule at the centre and in Jammu and Kashmir.
Citing few examples how Congress discriminated with the West Pakistan refugees, daughters of the soil, Displace Persons from PoJK, SCs, Valmiki Samaj and others, Vibodh said that history stands proof that the refugees were not granted citizenship rights. The daughters of the soil, were deprived of their basic rights on marrying outside J&K. The same Congress made hollow promises of giving compensation to the Displaced Persons but in practical did nothing. The SCs were not granted political reservation for more than two decades in J&K. The plight of the Valmiki Samaj was miserable during Congress rule.
