Two Old Greenwich siblings have been charged in Pennsylvania with conspiracy for submitting false or fraudulent claims for unclaimed property to state treasuries.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Two Old Greenwich siblings are being charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania with conspiracy to submit false and fraudulent claims for unclaimed property to state treasuries.
According to a report from the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, 75-year-old Henry White, Jr. and 69-year-old Patricia White are the Connecticut residents being charged.
Prosecutors allege the siblings worked together and agreed to submit over $1.2 million in false and fraudulent claims for unclaimed property from state treasuries around the U.S.
White Jr. allegedly used the names of corporate entities with which he was not connected to and had no right to use to apply for and receive unclaimed property from state treasuries throughout the country.

Relying on certifications provided by White Jr. under the penalty of perjury, state treasuries issued payment checks, which were typically sent by U.S. mail to the shared home address of both defendants.
At that point, the siblings would allegedly deposit and cash the fraudulently obtained payment checks. The money was then used for personal expenses such as mortgage payments for their shared Old Greenwich home.
