A California agricultural labor contractor will pay $460,498 in damages and penalties as part of a consent order announced by the US Department of Labor Wednesday.
A DOL investigation found that A. Oseguera Co. and owners Antonio Oseguera and Hilda Oseguera Garibay withheld wages and failed to pay transportation expenses for temporary foreign workers on H-2A visas, according to an announcement from the agency.
The H-2A program allows employers to hire workers from outside the US for temporary and seasonal farm work.
The DOL’s Wage and Hour Division previously recovered more than $977,000 in wages from the company in 2021. ...
