C.R. England Inc. failed to pay trainee truck drivers minimum and overtime wages for some work performed during the company’s extensive training program, a potential class suit says in federal court in Illinois.
New truckers spend about 72 hours per week working for the transportation company during their initial training period without any compensation, and work even longer hours for just $80 per day after graduating to supervised road-based training, according to the complaint former driver James Sapiega filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
